Evidence is assembled into the best-supported understanding available today. What is understood, how strongly it is held, what remains unknown, and what would change it. Uncertainty is made visible rather than resolved by assertion.

Procedure
Understanding is written as a position with its supports and its limits attached, not as a verdict. Each element carries the strength of the evidence behind it.
Remaining unknowns are listed rather than absorbed. An unknown is part of the output, not a defect in it.
The conditions under which the understanding would change are stated, so that a later reader can tell whether they still hold.
